Active Schools Aberdeen - Curves GO100!

Active Schools Aberdeen have a launched a new initiative in Bridge Of Don called Curves GO100! which aims to recruit 100 girls to participate in physical activity. The girls of P4-7 age range signed up to undertake different activities ranging from Body Combat, Tai Kwondo, Pilates, Yoga, and of course The Fit Zone™.

The Active Schools Aberdeen Team are responsible for putting in place and driving forward a range of planned activities in both school and community settings to help encourage children and young people's participation in the physical activity and sport. With this in mind, Zone Fit Ltd was approached to trial their product.

Bev Gove, Director of Zone Fit Ltd, says “this has been a great opportunity for us to trial our piece of kit with this specific age group. Feedback received from the children has been fantastic and they were all keen to get involved. We plan to develop specific teacher/coach-led exercise programmes for both boys and girls to ensure exercising is always perceived as a positive experience and to help them develop base motor skills.”

The equipment was used in the form of game type activities to mimic sport specific actions. Also, samples of the agility drills from the adult group exercise programme were tested to see the effects of listening and co-ordination skills with children.
