Research

We are pleased to announce the results of our 3 independent science studies undertaken by The Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen.

“The Fit Zone™ has been shown to be an effective form of exercising by burning calories without casing excessive joint stress”

Over 90 volunteers were recruited for the studies of different genres, ages and abilities.
This information will validate the effectiveness of our product to our identified markets and the end users – the exercise enthusiasts - who are always striving to improve their health and wellness.

Study 1
During an exclusive 6 week trial at David Lloyd Leisure in Aberdeen, data from participants undertaking the 45 and 60 minute group exercise programme was scientifically researched by Robert Gordon University to determine the heart rate training zones and number of calories burned during the introductory Fit Zone™ Group Exercise Programme.

Result – Participants worked for the majority of our programme in moderate to hard heart rate zones. This aligns itself to current guidelines for effective cardiovascular heart rate training.

Study 2
Further biomechanical analysis was developed to compare elements of The Fit Zone™ Group Exercise Programme with a typical step and floor workout.
The research concentrated on measuring the stress of the specific exercise movements on the ankle, knee and hip joints.

Result – All three options cause similar internal stress on the hip and knee joints. However, significant differences were found on the ankle joint. The step caused significantly more stress on the ankle joint compared to The Fit Zone™ and the floor options in all three exercises.

Study 3
To compare the calories burned and heart rate activities during 10 minutes of exercise using The Fit Zone™, a step apparatus and just the floor, using polar team heart rate monitors.

Result - The Fit Zone™ and step are more effective options in burning calories and increasing heart rate during 10 minutes of exercising compared with just the floor (The Fit Zone™ burned slightly more calories than step).
